Job Title: Chemical Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemical Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will support the research and development activities by conducting experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and analyzing chemical substances. This role requires a strong understanding of chemical processes and safety procedures, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, such as centrifuges, microscopes, gas chromatographs, and analytical balances.
- Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.
- Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
- Monitor and record results of experiments, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
- Assist in the development of new products and processes by providing technical support and analysis.
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory activities, experiments, and results in a detailed and organized manner.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and standards in laboratory practices.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to interpret data and to refine research methodologies.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certification in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the chemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer applications related to laboratory work, such as data entry and analysis software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality work standards.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
- The position typically operates within a laboratory environment, requiring standing for extended periods and handling potentially hazardous materials.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as per safety protocols.
